You may remember back that a friend/coworker has been trying to make a market a phone holder for the E9X platform and that my car has been the test mule.

After a couple of months of testing, he nailed down the final version.
I think it came out really nice.
Really nice to have when I need GPS. It isn’t the easiest solution, but it’s one of the cleaner ones I’ve seen. !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! :

Would this fit in your M3 as well? My 12v is on the other side (2008).

Yeah it would, the plus for that is on the left side, we ran the wiring to the 12v outlet in the passenger foot well in my E92. It is different wiring, but he was going to ask smokers pack vs no smokers pack and include the plug you’d need to make it work.

The opening is the same, it’s just the wiring and the insert, from the factory, that’s different. We scavenged the junkyard for some E9X center consoles.

My ’11 335xi has no 12v in that space, it’s just an empty bin. The only front seat 12v is in the armrest, there might be something in back but I can’t remember.

It seems like it's low, too close to the steering wheel and blocking access to some things on the console. I like mine to be higher up and a bit further away so when I glance at it, I'm not effectively looking at my lap.

I think you could adjust the holder avoid covering the AC controls.... sacrifice CD controls.

Would you actually be interested in something like this? My friend is trying to figure out how to market these. Don’t know if this is too much effort to ask for someone to do. He is working on plug ins for both smokers pack and non-smokers pack cars.

Not sure what it costs to become an approved vendor on Bimmerpost. He might look into that, and maybe send free samples to interested E9x “influencers” on Instagram.
